Measles infection

Patients with measles can be made more comfortable with antipyretics and by limiting activity. Because the virus can damage respiratory epithelium, patients may be more susceptible to bacterial superinfection such as otitis media or pneumonia. Those whose illness does not resolve according to the typical course of measles infection should be monitored for the presence of bacterial superinfection or other complication.
