Enfermedad por reflujo gastroesofágico

La enfermedad por reflujo gastroesofágico (ERGE) es un diagnóstico clínico. Los síntomas clásicos son la acidez y la regurgitación. Un protocolo terapéutico con un inhibidor de la bomba de protones (IBP) puede ser útil, tanto para diagnóstico, como para tratamiento inicial.

La endoscopia gastrointestinal superior se indica para evaluar complicaciones, síntomas atípicos, persistentes o recidivantes, o cuando existen signos de alarma (p. ej., pérdida de peso, anemia).

Alta tasa de recidiva al interrumpir el tratamiento.

Las complicaciones graves de la ERGE son la estenosis, el esófago de Barrett o el carcinoma esofágico.

La ERGE puede producirse con o sin inflamación esofágica (esofagitis). Si hay erosiones presentes en el examen endoscópico, la afección se denomina enfermedad por reflujo erosivo (ERD, erosive reflux disease); si no hay erosiones, se denomina enfermedad por reflujo no erosivo (NERD, nonerosive reflux disease).[1]Katz PO, Dunbar KB, Schnoll-Sussman FH, et al.
