The diagnosis of GVHD is based primarily on clinical symptoms and manifestations. Tissue biopsy with histopathological confirmation of the affected organ is recommended when the aetiology cannot be clearly determined. Laboratory data or imaging studies are often useful tests in the diagnostic approach to GVHD.
