Alloimmunisation with production of red cell antibodies may be considered in pregnant women with maternal/paternal Rh incompatibility and/or in Rh-negative mothers where the Rh paternal phenotype is unknown. Laboratory testing for the presence of red cell antibodies is confirmatory.
