Erythema nodosum occurs more frequently in Europe than in North America, although the exact incidence is not known. It can occur at any age but peaks between 20 and 30 years.[2] Women are affected 3 to 6 times more often than men.[2] It is common in women of childbearing years and is associated with pregnancy and lactation. Its incidence varies, based on the prevalence of related diseases.[1]
