The prevalence of histological BPH increases with age, affecting approximately 42% of men between the ages of 51 and 60 years and 82% of men between the ages of 71 and 80 years.[2] A linear increase in incidence rates is seen from 3 cases per 1000 man-years at age 45 to 49 years to 38 cases per 1000 man-years at age 75 to 79 years.[3]
