Blastomycosis occurs within geographically limited regions of the US, Canada, Mediterranean basin, and South Africa. The annual incidence of blastomycosis reaches 0.5 cases per 100,000 population in areas of high endemicity, including Wisconsin, Mississippi, Kentucky, and Arkansas. Cases have also been reported in Iowa, Louisiana, and Tennessee. More recent data suggest that blastomycosis may be endemic in eastern upstate New York as well.
