New Zealand guidelines for the diagnosis and management of soft tissue knee injuries: internal derangements

Summary

These guidelines provide an evidence-based summary of the diagnostic management and treatment options available for internal derangements of the knee. The diagnosis of MCL injuries is based on a positive valgus stress test performed in extension and 30° of flexion. The presence of tenderness along the course of the MCL is highly suggestive of MCL injuries.
