Σύνοψη
- Presents with raised, tender, inflammatory nodules over the shins, sometimes associated with arthralgia and fever.
- Occurs as a response to a variety of conditions, including infections, inflammatory bowel diseases, rheumatological and auto-immune disease, malignancies, and pregnancy. Medications can also cause the condition.
- Histopathology shows septal panniculitis without vasculitis. Miescher's radial granulomas are a diagnostical feature.
- Treated with supportive care and management of the underlying cause. May include bed rest, warm soaks to affected areas, aspirin, paracetamol, potassium iodide, and corticosteroids. Nodules usually resolve within a few weeks or months.
