Flexible access to Best Practice

Healthcare professionals need ready access to reliable, up-to-date information when making diagnostic and treatment decisions. The Best Practice mobile site can be accessed via any internet-enabled mobile phone, smartphone, tablet or other hand-held device; and the Best Practice app is available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users. Both mobile options provide quick and easy access to the full content of Best Practice, including expert opinion, guidelines and evidence, while on the move.

Personal and institutional subscriptions include remote access to Best Practice AND Best Practice Mobile at no extra charge. If your organisation has an institutional subscription, you can access the Best Practice website remotely (from outside your institution) OR access the Best Practice Mobile by creating a My Best Practice account (as described below). If the Best Practice app part of your institution’s subscription, your My Best Practice login will allow you to download both files within the app (content and images) without charge.

Please follow the instructions below:

Institutional subscribers

1. Register for a new My Best Practice account, or sign into an existing account

PLEASE NOTE: You MUST register/login from within the IP range of the institution, OR after authentication via Shibboleth, Athens, referral URL / proxy server for access set-up to be successful. Your institution must also allow remote access. Institutional administrators can enable remote access by contacting BMJ customer services at support@bmjgroup.com.*

2. After completing step 1, you can:

a) access the Best Practice website; simply login to bestpractice.bmj.com

b) access the Best Practice mobile site;  login to bp.bmjgroup.mobi

3. If your institution has a subscription to Best Practice that includes the app you can also access 'All topics' from the Best Practice app 

a) Download the app from the App store                                   

b) From ‘Settings’ (iPhone, iPod Touch) or ‘Subscriptions’ (iPad) go to the 'Account' page 

c) Login with your My Best Practice account username and password

d) ‘All topics’ will automatically begin to download. Images are downloaded as a separate large file, best over a good wifi connection.

PLEASE NOTE:

Remote access rights and access to the Best Practice Mobile site are granted for the remaining duration of the institutional subscription, or for six months (whichever period is shorter). To renew your access, login to My Best Practice under the conditions explained in step 1.

Access to the Best Practice app is granted for the remaining duration of the institutional subscription, after which time you will need to login to My Best Practice under the conditions explained in step 1 and then renew via the app.

* For security reasons, remote / mobile access must be set up from a computer connected to your institution’s network.

Personal subscribers

Personal subscriptions automatically allow access from any location. Simply login to your My Best Practice account at bestpractice.bmj.com.
To use Best Practice Mobile, visit bp.bmjgroup.mobi and login with your My Best Practice username and password. Personal subscriptions do NOT include access to the Best Practice app. The Best Practice app or Differential Diagnosis app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch can be purchased separately via the Apple App Store.
