Flexible access to Best Practice
Mobile and app access
The BMJ Best Practice app provides healthcare professionals with quick and convenient access to clinical guidelines, research evidence and expert opinion. To find out more information about our BMJ Best Practice app click here.
Personal and institutional subscriptions include remote access to BMJ Best Practice at no extra charge. If your organisation has an institutional subscription, you can access the website remotely (from outside your institution) by creating a My BMJ Best Practice account.
Institutional access to the BMJ Best Practice app
If the BMJ Best Practice app is part of your institution’s subscription, your My BMJ Best Practice login will also allow you to download both files within the app without charge. In some instances institutional access is granted by use of an institutional number which will be provided by your institution or organisation. The institutional number is used once alongside your My BMJ Best Practice login.

Download the iOS app
Download the android app
* For security reasons, remote access must be set up from a computer connected to your institution’s network.
In version 2.1 we removed the cellular data download restriction, to allow users to download topics over 4G & 3G.
We realise that our app can use up considerable amounts of users' mobile data allowance due to the updating frequency of topics. However, the app set up gives the user the option to restrict downloads to wifi (or not) as required.
iOS users control their mobile data usage through settings: as standard eg, iOS7 Settings > Mobile > MOBILE DATA USAGE, where switching off means downloads only happen over wifi.
Android users control the BP mobile data usage from *within the app* under their profile (see android phone screenshot attached).
